Glass Jewellery was highly valued in ancient Rome. Kate Porter glass is a modern twist on an ancient art. Dichroic glass contains micro thin layers of metalm oxides. The oxides cause the light to bend as it enters the glass returning to the eye as brilliant colour.
The glass is not coloured. Rather, it acts muxh like a rainbow, refracting light into colour. This accounts for the unusual brilliance of the glass. Four to five layers of glass are fired over 1400 degrees over seveal hours. These layers create jewellery that is both beautiful and durable.
